PureTech Systems received several top honors in Government Security News (GSN)’s Homeland Security Awards competition. The awards program recognizes and salutes companies that produce the most innovative and technologically advanced products and solutions used in homeland security. PureTech’s solution, PureActiv®, was a winning solution in the categories of “Best Long Range Detection Product, Service or System” and “Best Intelligent Video Surveillance Solution.”
PureTech Systems specializes in video analytic algorithms and the use of geospatial solutions for security applications. This unique combination allows it to easily integrate with other geospatial border sensors, like radar, GPS and intelligent fences. It also allows for smarter video detection algorithms by utilizing real size, real location and real speed in the analysis.
PureTech’s entry into the Long Range Detection category highlighted new functionality necessary to effectively use cameras at very long ranges, such as border applications or open sea viewing. At these ranges, reaching out to several kilometers, the ability to detect items of interest becomes very difficult. Also difficult is the precision required to allow a camera to follow these targets. At these ranges, new challenges appear that short to medium range installations do not need to concern themselves with, such as atmospheric scintillation, camera tilt due to temperature changes of the mounting structure and even the curvature of the earth.
PureTech System’s entry into The Best Intelligent Video Surveillance Solution focused on the ability to not only detect intrusion events, but also proactively deter. The entry highlighted the ability of the PureActiv solution to integrate with a loud hailer audio device, specifically, fellow GSN Award recipient LRAD Corporation’s (NASDAQ – LRAD) long-range acoustic hailing device (LRAD®). The solution boasts the ability to detect an intruder, assess the risk via object classification and location, direct the loud hailer directly at the target and autonomously point the audio device at the intruder. The solution will continue to point the loud hailer at the intruder until apprehended, or the system has determined that they have exited the property. The combination of the two technologies highlights the ability of security systems to automatically detect and take action to deter the situation.
“We are honored to have the PureActiv® software recognized by GSN’s homeland security awards program," stated Larry Bowe, president of PureTech Systems. “We continue to be innovative in bringing new solutions and technologies to the security market and we’re pleased to be recognized for that effort.” “On the surface many of these capabilities may be overlooked, such as keeping a camera pointed on a target at 7 km, but when you actually attempt to solve the problem you realize how much technology and know-how is involved with solving that problem.”
Also notable at this year’s awards, was the Port of Charleston, who received the Platinum award in the category of “Most Notable Maritime/Seaport Security Program,” which consisted if its integrated solution featuring PureTech System’s PureActiv Geospatial Video Analytics combined with the Southwest Microwave INTREPIDTM MicropointTM Cable perimeter fence detection system.
